Listen to episode 33:
"I was compensating by stress eating": Lauren
August 29, 2021
Even with her active lifestyle and background in nutrition and science and eating behaviours, Lauren knew that she needed help with her exhaustion, stress eating and cravings. She knew she needed to listen to her body more, especially during lockdown.
She had a healthy lifestyle on paper, she says, but she felt like trash: she was tired, couldn't focus, her work quality was suffering, and she wasn't as productive. She realized that she was compensating by eating junk food.
She tried Whole 30, but for her it was too extreme of a change. She felt like she was going to die of cravings (her words!). In the Life After Sugar Program, Lauren realized that she's more of a "moderator". She needed a gentler approach that matches her personality.
Yes, she "fell off the wagon" (her words!) once or twice... but she didn't guilt trip herself about it. She looked at it more as extra data that allowed her to know herself better. She's more of a mindful eater now. And respecting her personality helps her make a sustainable change too. It fits her life and her values.
In the program, Lauren also learned more about fermented foods and gut health, even although she already knew a little about it.
Lauren knows that a supportive community is key. "If you want to get somewhere, surround yourself with people that have done it". That was her perspective when she signed up for the Life After Sugar Program.
And that's what helped her turn her knowledge into action and change her life for the better.
