Listen to episode 94:
The 4 levels of sugar addiction: Molly

October 30, 2022

You may self-identify as a sugar addict... But are you really "addicted"?

In this episode, I'm talking to my friend Molly Painschab, who is a mental health professional, addiction strategist, behavior specialist, and certified international food addiction counselor.

Molly has her own personal experience of a disordered relationship with food. She experienced gestational diabetes, weight gain and health issues, and these led her to discover a branch of addiction that she hadn't studied before.

Sugar addiction.

In this episode Molly describes the 4 different levels of sugar or food addiction (or "substance use disorder"):

  1. "normal" eater (depending on the definition of "normal")
  2. harmful user
  3. abuser
  4. substance use disorder

Which one sounds like your lived experience?
